Kick-Off Meeting
The Kick-Off meeting of METIS happened at the 25.10.2018 at the research center Jülich.
Thereby, the project team consisting of the Jülich Research Center, the RWTH Aachen University and the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg introduced themselves.
During the meeting, it was concluded to use the open-source energy system modelling framework FINE (https://github.com/FZJ-IEK3-VSA/FINE) as foundation to implement new models, apply complexity reduction methods, and to develop new solving algorithms.
Further, two task-forces were founded:
- The group Complexity Reduction focusses on the holistic analysis of the complexity dimensions and their reduction before the creation of energy system models.
- The group Parallelization appends on the created mathematical models and develops decomposition algorithms to create many distributable task to profit form the highly parallelized ressourced of High Performance Computers.
